idk if glomgold’s fake beard plays into his whole being a south african pretending to be scottish thing

🤔

“Glomgold also now appears much stouter than in previous versions, including the 1987 version, however, his outfit and personality remains relatively unchanged from the 1987 version. In this version, it is implied Glomgold is South African but pretends to be Scottish in order to outdo Scrooge McDuck“  x

Glomgold first appeared in The Second-Richest Duck, first published in September 1956. In this story, Scrooge, who holds the title of the Richest Duck in the World, learns that a businessman from the valley of the Limpopo, South Africa has also claimed this title. Scrooge decides to confront this claimant to his title and travels to South Africa along with his nephew Donald and his great-nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck.

this whole lore about it confuses me but  ?

((Yeah but Glomgold’s always had a beard, regardless of nationality.  Revealing it’s a fake…eh, I laughed.  I guess it just goes to show how phony he is.  Reminds me of a joke in “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” [the Broadway play version] when one of the con men who’s been speaking with a British accent the whole show reveals he’s actually from Detroit, though the British accent was pretty unnecessary for the plot.))
